Vital Healthcare Property Trust Drops Dual Listing Plan

Feb 20, 2025

Highlights:

  • Vital Healthcare Property Trust (NZX: VHP) has decided against a dual listing on the ASX and NZX after consulting unitholders.
  • Unitholder concerns over costs and complexities influenced the decision to maintain the current structure.
  • The company remains focused on optimizing its $3.2 billion portfolio and delivering long-term value.

No Immediate Plans for Dual Listing

Vital Healthcare Property Trust (NZX: VHP) has ruled out a dual listing in Australia and New Zealand for the foreseeable future, according to its manager, Aaron Hockly. The company, which holds a portfolio of healthcare and medical-related properties valued at $3.2 billion, previously sought unitholder feedback on restructuring into two separate trusts—one listed on the New Zealand Exchange (NZX) and the other on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). However, after reviewing responses, the plan has been shelved.

Unitholder Concerns Influence Decision

The dual-listing proposal aimed to improve liquidity and attract a broader investor base. However, concerns from unitholders about potential costs and complexities led the trust to reconsider. Hockly emphasized that while the idea was explored, the company remains committed to delivering long-term value within its current structure.

Future Outlook

At the time of writing, Vital Healthcare Property Trust continues to focus on optimizing its trans-Tasman portfolio, prioritizing strategic investments and maintaining strong financial performance. While a dual listing is not off the table indefinitely, it is not a priority for the company at this stage.
