Quantifi Photonics Acquired by Teradyne in Strategic Deal

Quantifi Photonics, a New Zealand-based technology company, has been acquired by Teradyne Inc. (NZX: TER) for an undisclosed amount. The deal is set to close in the second quarter of 2025. Teradyne, a US-based electronics giant with a market capitalization of US$16.7 billion (NZ$29.3 billion), specializes in automatic test equipment.

Quantifi Photonics develops testing solutions for optical transceivers, which play a crucial role in data conversion between electrical and optical formats. The company’s key shareholders include Simplicity KiwiSaver (34.4%), a US chip manufacturer, and a private investor. The acquisition marks a significant milestone for New Zealand’s tech sector, with Quantifi Photonics now positioned to leverage Teradyne’s global market reach. The deal underscores growing interest in advanced optical testing technology and signals increased international investment in the industry.
