New Zealand Dollar Declines Amid Global Uncertainty

Nov 15, 2024

The New Zealand dollar (NZD) has seen a steady decline since Donald Trump’s U.S. election victory, pressured by concerns about China's economic outlook and subdued fiscal stimulus. At the time of writing, the kiwi was trading at 58.44 US cents, having breached a key support level at 58.50 US cents. Analysts suggest further downside risk as fears grow over potential global tariff hikes under Trump’s policies, which could impact trade and limit global growth through 2025. The lack of strong fiscal measures in China has also weighed on commodity-linked currencies, adding to the NZD's current challenges.
