Multinational Food Giants Thrive on NZs Processed Food Demand

Mar 24, 2025

Cedenco Foods New Zealand, owned by Japan’s Imanaka Group, is among several multinational food companies benefiting from strong demand for ultra-processed and takeaway food in New Zealand. Foreign-owned food distributors have consistently reported annual revenue growth exceeding 10%, as seen in financial filings with the Companies Office. Although the pandemic briefly disrupted supply chains, the sector has rebounded swiftly. However, weather-related challenges and other external factors have affected some operations. The rising consumption of packaged and fast food continues to drive profits, with companies also seeing gains in dividends and royalties from the New Zealand market.
