Kainga Ora Reassesses Carpet Procurement to Include Wool

Jan 30, 2025

Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities is reconsidering its carpet procurement strategy, now allowing wool manufacturers to participate. The government housing agency had initially sought only nylon carpet, prompting criticism from the wool industry and Minister Mark Patterson. In response, Kāinga Ora issued a request for proposals (RFPs) in early November, with final submissions due in December. This move aims to address industry concerns and provide opportunities for New Zealand’s wool sector in government housing projects.
