Freightways Faces Challenges in Transition to Electric Fleet

Freightways Limited (NZX: FRE), a leading transport and courier company in New Zealand, is still working to find the right electric vehicles to replace its diesel-run fleet, according to CEO Mark Troughear. Despite releasing its first Climate-Related Disclosure (CRD) report under the Government's mandatory reporting regime, the company has yet to fully address its fleet's environmental impact. Speaking at the company's annual general meeting (AGM), Troughear emphasized the complexity of transitioning to cleaner energy. Using 2024 as a baseline, the report highlights Freightways' greenhouse gas emissions and its commitment to sustainability, though there is more work ahead to meet emission reduction targets.
