Akaroa King Salmon Appoints New CEO

Akaroa King Salmon Limited has announced the appointment of Scotsman Stewart Hawthorn as its new chief executive. Hawthorn brings over 35 years of experience in farming and the salmon industry, having held senior leadership roles in Scotland, Canada, and New Zealand. Duncan Bates, who has served as managing director since 2002, will remain a partner on the board. Bates, who has known Hawthorn for over two decades, expressed confidence in his leadership and expertise, calling him the preferred choice for the role. Hawthorn returns to New Zealand from Scotland to lead Akaroa King Salmon in its next phase of growth and development. The company sees this leadership change as an opportunity to strengthen its position in the industry while leveraging Hawthorn’s extensive international experience.
