Air New Zealand Extends Engine Partnership Amid Maintenance Delays

Nov 11, 2024

Air New Zealand Ltd (NZX: AIZ) has committed $252 million to extend its joint venture with Pratt & Whitney at the Christchurch Engine Centre, focusing on long-term engine support. This investment aims to strengthen maintenance and repair capabilities for the national carrier’s fleet of 18 A320/A321 neo aircraft, which are powered by Pratt & Whitney's PW1100G-JM geared turbofan engines. The announcement comes as the airline faces delays in securing early engine inspections and repairs, following Pratt & Whitney’s discovery of metal contamination in these engines.
